Date:
Sunday, February 14, 2010, Time: 9:00 am-12:00 am
During this walk/workshop we will focus on
providing participants with education on the placement of nest boxes
for Screech Owls and Western Blue Birds. This hands-on
experience will provide participants with increased knowledge of how
cavity-nesting birds support sustainable ecosystems.
In this environmental stewardship activity, participants will team to
place cavity-nesting bird boxes to provide habitat for our
feathered friends. After the bird boxes have been
successfully placed, the group will be led on a birdwatching walk
co-led by our Bi-lingual, Bi-cultural Youth and Family Advocate and
expert birder Dr. Joseph
Zinkl,
Professor Emeritus at the University of California at Davis.
This walk
will
cover basic bird identification in a family-friendly atmosphere.
Participants
will receive
instruction on the basic use of binoculars, scopes, and field
guides. Bring binoculars and bird indentification books.
To reserve your place on the walk, please
contact Anya Perron-Burdick.
