Established in 1976, The Center for Social and Environmental Stewardship (The Center) acknowledges the interdependent links between the health of the individual person, the greater community and the natural environment. We bring diverse groups of people together to work collaboratively in support sustainability: social equity through culturally responsive services, a healthy environment through habitat restoration activities, and economic independence for community members through workforce development support.


Our Mission:  To support community members to become stewards of their own lives, the lives of others and the environment in which we all live.

Planting Fruit Trees
The Center's Sonoma County Youth Ecology Corps provides youth and young adults
with meaningful, paid work experience, environmental education, and the opportunity
to explore careers and develop work-readiness skills.  Youth contribute to their
community while completing environmental and conservation-related projects or by
working with local non-profit organizations.
